Social distancing…we are all now practicing it at this point. It is changing the way of life for all of us, and it is a time for every individual and business to find the silver lining to the situations they find themselves in. The difficult realization of beaches closing their gates and public lands becoming inaccessible, my photography becomes limited. As we are now confined to only our living spaces and backyards for the next 30 days this is the perfect opportunity to focus on mastering and pursuing hobbies and talents that have been repressed for many years with the busyness of “everyday life”.
I am taking this new-found time to search through my archives of images from the past ten years and find those gems that have been overlooked.
A couple of months ago I made the decision to purchase a drone for my photography to help me capture images from those unique vantage points that are outside of my reach. Since south and central Florida have a such a flat landscape with no hills or mountains for a vantage point to sometimes take in the vast beauty of the landscape, the drone is perfect for capturing vistas such as the recently restored Kissimmee River as it meanders through the wild and natural landscape. I have been working as a biologist on this river for the past 12 years, and photographing the landscapes within, but it is exciting to be able to present aerial photographs of this watershed that I have grown to love. Drone images of the coast bring a whole new exciting perspective of the ocean. I am looking forward to getting back to the coast
